VOLUNTEERS NEEDED
The Senior Center is about to launch a new program to assist Caregivers in our community. This was something that came from the Needs Assessment that was completed this past Fall and we are looking for some Volunteers who would be willing to sit with a loved one while the Caregiver goes to an appointment, shops or gets a haircut.
We will provide training in CPR, First Aid and how to deal with difficult situations (although we don’t anticipate any!) You will be paid mileage to and from your home to your assignment. You will need to commit to a two hour block, on a day you are available.
We can be flexible. No weekends. If you are interested in helping out with this program or would like more information, please contact Alma at the Senior Center at 508-366-3000. We would like to get this program up and running by mid June.
TIME FOR FLOWERS
TUESDAY MAY 7 AT 1:00 PM
If you enjoy having your hands in the dirt and planting live plants, please join Caroline Gulbankian on Tuesday, May 7, at 1:00 p.m. to make your own Spring Container Garden.
All supplies will be provided. Cost is $30.00 and must be paid before the class.
Sign up today and add your lovely creation to your yard just in time for Mother’s Day. Class size is limited so don’t delay!

SAVE ON YOUR MEDICARE COSTS
On March 1, MassHealth changed their Medicare Savings Programs and eliminated the consideration of assets in the determination of an applicant’s eligibility for benefits. The change will mean many more seniors will now be eligible for this program for the first time.
To qualify, an individual’s income must be below $2,824 per month and a couple’s income must be below $3,833 per month. Under the Medicare Savings Program, beneficiaries can save $174 a month on their part B premium, get help paying for prescription drug costs and in some cases, get coverage for Medicare A and B co-pays and deductibles.
Book your appointment today with a SHINE Counselor to see if you’re eligible and start saving now!!
SHINE Counselors are available, by appointment, at the Senior Center each week. You can call 508-366-3000 to make an appointment. There is no charge and transportation is available.
