AARP INCOME TAX PREPARATION
Once again, the Senior Center and AARP have teamed up to prepare Income Tax returns for people coming to the Westborough Senior Center!
To make a reservation, you must come into the Senior Center and pick up an information packet and fill it out before you can have your taxes completed.
We will not take appointments over the phone. Appointments are available on Fridays, beginning February 2 through April 5. There is no charge for this service.

WHAT'S NEW

WE’VE BEEN CHALLENGED! AGAIN!!
TUESDAY 2/1 AT 3:00 PM
The WHS Student Council has challenged us , again, to a Jeopardy match on Thursday, February 1, at 3:00 p.m. at the Senior Center. We are looking for a few good Jeopardy players to represent us and a nice cheering section for support!
If you are interested, please call the Senior Center and let us know. All are welcome. Transportation is available and refreshments will be available.
MAKE YOUR VALENTINE CARDS
TUESDAY 2/6 AT 1:00 PM
Join us on Tuesday, February 6, at 1:00 p.m. to make your very own Valentine Cards to send to family and friends. Examples of the possibilities are on display at the Senior Center.
There is no charge but you must pre-register so we have enough supplies. Francine and Juanita will be here to help and show you all the tricks to making beautiful cards!

GENERATION BRIDGES IS BACK
WEDNESDAY AT 2:45 PM
Please join us on Wednesday afternoons at 2:45 p.m. for the popular Generation Bridges program. Students from Westborough High School will be at the Senior Center to have conversations with you about your life, their life, the world and our community.
There are no phones involved, just talking. This has been such an interesting group with both students and Seniors learning from each other. Plus, there’s lots of laughter!!
Stop in on Wednesday afternoon and help the students learn from you and see what you can learn from them!
COMPUTER HELP WITH ASSABET
FRIDAY 2/2 AT 10:00 AM
The students from Assabet Vocational School will be at the Senior Center on Friday, February 2, at 10:00 a.m. to assist you with your laptop, tablet or cell phone. Let us know if you are coming so we can have enough students here to help.
There is no charge and transportation is available.


FAT TUESDAY BREAKFAST
TUESDAY 2/13 AT 9:00 AM
Fat Tuesday is the day before Lent starts and the day for one last delicious fling before the period of fasting and reflection begins. Serving pancakes on that day is a tradition that we will be honoring with a pancake breakfast on Tuesday, February 13, at 9:00 a.m.
We’ll be serving pancakes, sausage, juice and coffee. There is no charge but you MUST have a reservation.
Transportation is available. Let us know when you make your reservation if you will be needing a ride.
FUEL ASSISTANCE AVAILABLE
The SMOC Fuel Assistance program is now accepting new applications. If you are a single person with yearly income below $42,412 or a two person household with income below $55,462, you may be eligible for assistance with your heating bills this winter.
Call the Senior Center and we will send you an application packet. When you have gathered all of the necessary documentation, call back and we will schedule an appointment to complete the application process.


SUGGESTION BOX IN THE LOBBY
Did you know there is a suggestion box in the lobby of the Senior Center?
We are looking for some additional input from you ,so if you have an idea, let us know.
We can’t promise we’ll do everything you suggest, but we’ll see what we can do!

TOWN MEETING TIME
TUESDAY 2/27 AT 1:00 PM
The annual Town Meeting is quickly approaching (March 16) and we are pleased to be able to offer you the opportunity to hear from Town Manager Kristi Williams and School Superintendent Amber Bock about the budget on Tuesday, February 27, at 1:00 p.m. They will have a presentation to explain what’s happening this year and there will be plenty of time for questions.

BAGELS WITH THE SELECT BOARD

A member of the Select Board will be at the Senior Center on Tuesday, February 20, at 9:30 a.m. Come and enjoy a fresh bagel and a cup of coffee and some conversation.
There is no charge and all are welcome. There have been some very lively discussions and everyone has learned from each of us.
Transportation is available. Please call and let us know if you are coming so we have enough bagels!!

This is a very informal lunch. Please let us know you are coming by Friday, February 16, so we can plan for enough soup.

Dinner is back by popular demand! And we’ve picked your favorite meal–chicken parmesan! Make your reservation for Monday, February 26. Dinners will be ready to pick up at 1:00 p.m. at the back kitchen door at the Senior Center.
Dinner will include chicken parmesan, ziti with sauce, rolls and butter and dessert.
Cost is $7.00.
Be sure to call in your reservation by noon on Thursday, February 22.

ASIAN OUTREACH PROGRAM

FRIDAY 2/2 AT 1:30 PM – MOVIE TIME!
Nothing will be more lunatic than to watch “Everything Everywhere All at Once” together to welcome the upcoming Lunar New Year in February. Hot cocao and cookies will be served. The movie is narrated in English with Chinese subtitles.

FRIDAY 2/9 at 1:30 PM – HONG KONG MAHJONG GAME & LUNAR NEW YEAR’S EVE
RIDAY 2/16 AT 1:30 PM – LUNAR NEW YEAR CELEBRATION! (2/10 – 2/24)
Come join us for a social gathering to celebrate the year of the Dragon. We will go to SKY Buffet in Milford for lunch together. The bus will leave at 11:15 am from the Senior Center. After lunch, we will be back to the Senior Center to watch some video clips and to make Chinese lanterns for celebrating the Lantern Festival on Feb 23.

FRIDAY 2/23 AT 1:30 PM – HONG KONG MAHJONG GAME & LANTERN FESTIVAL
Come join us for a social gathering to play Mahjong game, and to celebrate the Lantern Festival with the riddle contests. Chinese lanterns will be displayed with riddles for you to guess. Refreshments will be served.

PAINTING WITH JANINE
BEGINNING THURSDAY 2/1 AT 1:00 PM
Janine will be back for six weeks of painting classes, beginning Thursday, February 1, at 1:00 p.m. You can paint in whatever medium you are comfortable (oil, water color, pastels) and can bring your own photo to paint or work with what Janine brings to the class. You will
learn so much!
Cost for the six weeks is $40.00 and must be paid prior to the start of the classes.
Individual classes are $7.00 each. Class size is limited so don’t delay.
Transportation is available. Classes will end around 3:00 p.m.

Well, it finally happened. Snow (and ice) fell from the sky and made travel difficult for a couple days. There will be more! Please remember that if there is no school in Westborough because of weather issues, there are no activities, Mini-bus or Meals on Wheels. However, please use common sense when deciding to leave your house if the weather is questionable. Call us first to make sure there is a class. We will try to
call you to cancel and activity if necessary, as soon as possible. BE SAFE!!

An Adult Respite Program – A program for Westborough Seniors with Memory Loss and Respite for their Caregivers.
Saturday Sunshine provides a structured, quality time for your loved one with memory loss. Professional staff will provide lunch and engaging activities for those who require some supervision.
You must register for each date by the previous Wednesday prior to program. Please contact Stephanie Keane, LICSW or Alma DeManche at 508-366-3000 to register and for more information.
