Keep Moving is to keep your mind sharp!
At Westborough Senior Center, we provide different fitness and wellness programs to keep your body in shape and your mind sharp in old age. The exercise programs we offer at Westborough Senior Center are focused on older adults. With exercise, it helps to boot our immune system, increase joint function, improve mental acuity, prevent disease, maintain desire weight, and help improve the overall quality of life in aging. It’s important that older adults get up and stay active all the time.
Exercise classes are $5 per class unless otherwise stated
If you have not been active for a while, check with your doctor before beginning any exercise program.

Zumba Gold
Date: Monday & Friday at 11:00 am

Zumba Gold

Zumba is a Latin-inspired cardio-dance workout that uses music and choreographed steps to form a fitness party atmosphere. Many types of dance and music are featured.
Zumba Gold is designed to be approachable by all populations, regardless of fitness level. The biggest difference is that Zumba Gold is done at a much lower intensity. It’s just as much fun, just not as fast!

Light Cardio
Date: Monday at 9:30 pm

There will be a new exercise class offering on Monday mornings at 9:30 a.m. beginning December 4. The class starts with light cardio and is followed by breathing and stretches and ends with laughter yoga and relaxation.
It incorporates interval training to help improve cardiovascular fitness. Deep breathing exercises are meant to relax the mind and body and open up the lungs. Laughter yoga improves mood, reduces stress and strengthens the immune system. This low-intensity fun class was designed to meet the anatomical, physiological and psychological needs of Seniors.
The first class is free!! Come and try it out! After that, each class will be $5.00. Transportation is available.
Tai Chi

An ancient Chinese Martial Art with instructor Helen Morin. A gentle, rhythmic, fluid movement that will help improve your internal energy and blood circulation and at the same time strengthen your muscles and bones, open up your gates and joints so you can move better to improve your balance, increase your stamina and build up your self-confidence.
Tai Chi also teaches you how to breathe well, release tension, and stay centered and focused. But remember, “80% of success is showing up”!

GENTLE YOGA
Date: Monday at 1:30 pm & Wednesday and Friday at 9 am

Instructor: Kristin
We are delighted to have Kristin Higgins for a new Gentle Yoga class on Wednesday and Friday mornings at 9:00 a.m. Kristin was ranked #10 in the country as an instructor for Silver Sneakers in 2021. She specializes in instruction for Seniors and Veterans. This class can be taken standing or sitting and will gently work all of your body from your head to your toes.
Cost for the class is $5.00 and transportation is available to the Senior Center for the class. If you have been looking for a gentle way to ease into some exercise, this class is for you!

STRENGTH AND BALANCE
Date: Wednesday & Friday at 1:00 pm

We are pleased to welcome Caitlin Borsini as the new instructor for Strength and Balance beginning Wednesday, January 5, at 1:00 p.m. Caitlin teaches at two other Senior Centers in the area as well as Assisted Living facilities. She will focus on core strength and flexibility. Cost for the class will be $4.00 per class. This will be an on-going class and transportation is available.

Yoga w/Divya
Date: Friday at 10:00 am (NOT AVAILABLE )
$5 per week

This is a more traditional mat yoga that is a gentle vinyasa yoga style. It is stringing of different yoga poses transmitting from one pose to another gradually in a flow. Class will begin with some breathing techniques, advancing into vinyasa flow of yoga on the mat, sitting or standing. You will get easy options for poses if you find it difficult so that everyone can do them to the best of their ability. It will be beginners yoga on the mat. The class will end with Savasana or a resting pose. The first rule is listening to your body and go at your own pace.
Pre-registration is required. The instructor is Divya Marwah. DIvya has extensive teaching credential and comes highly recommended. And again, if you have not been active for a while, please check with your doctor before beginning this or any exercise program.
